Emotional Control

Well the excitement has arrived. We all know the first WOD for the 2011 CrossFit Open Sectional. I, just like many others, am ready to get after it! What I feel is important though, right now, is practicing emotional control.

I have seen many CrossFit athletes blow their WOD (no pun) by not practicing good emotional control. Some of you may be reading this and feeling anxious, nervous, etc. As a coach I highly encourage you all not to let those emotions run wild during your WOD. Channel those emotions the right way and you'll have the best WOD possible, let them run wild and you may "burn-out" to quickly or you may end up being too much in your own head. Obviously channeling those emotions properly is hard to teach and even do. I would recommend seeking out someone who specializes in mental performance.

What I suggest is to take some time during you warm-up to visualize yourself doing then workout, practice slow breathing, and remind yourself why you are doing this, because it's FUN! Three simple steps you can use to have the best performance possible.
